baby bunny in garage

In 1994, I partnered with my daughter’s 4th grade teacher to create a new kind of program for her class. This was at the very beginning of the school “Kindness Movement” that was soon to gather momentum across the country.

Shelley and I developed a curriculum and materials and presented it as a twice-a-week casual get-together on the classroom reading rug. We shared stories from the book, Simple Acts of Kindness, and did exercises to increase the children’s sensitivity to others, along with their communication skills. To this day, I love reading about new ways to make others feel good.

I love this idea and that photograph is perfect. I think we all have that little bunny in us…that part of us that needs the gentlest, softest, touch.
