Our solar bird bath broke and we bought a new one.

The old one was made of resin and there really wasn’t any way to recycle it, so my husband put it in the garbage can. This bothered me because we’ve only lived in Sedona for a year and I’m not completely up on all of the garbage regulations. I didn’t want to be rejected by the garbage collector because we put something in the can that we weren’t supposed to. My husband conveniently left town this morning — the morning of trash collection and so I was left alone to deal with the potential infraction.

I heard the truck coming down the street, and…I hid out back. They took it and didn’t come looking for me.

Sometimes I have to wonder about myself.

I am cracking up because that is something I would absolutely do. As much of an independent woman as I am who likes to forge her own path, I can also be an obsessively obedient rule abider.
