More rain, many more miles and then the sight of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Yes, there’s no place like home.

The rest of the visits were wonderful, especially the gift fight at Roy’s sister’s house. 25 adults participated, along with the few children who were still awake after Santa’s appearance. One gift in particular was inspired, and fooled everyone. It appeared to be a “Make Your Own Umbrella Kit” and the person who unwrapped it, Chris, spent the rest of the evening trying to give it away. Finally, someone took it from him, and we all figured that Sean was just trying to be nice to Chris. But after the last gift was opened, Sean stood up to announce that not all packages are what they seem to be. He proceeded to reach into the box, and pulled out a bag of sugar with a $50 bill attached. Apparently he had ordered a gag box from TheOnion.com, and upon closer examination, the Make Your Own Umbrella Kit was a hilarious put-on.

The following morning we stopped at Elayne’s for Swedish-style French toast and then hit the road. Today we’ll recover.

Isn’t it fun to peek into the windows onto others warm Christmas scenes. It makes us realize we are so much more alike than we are different. Happy Merry!
