Collared Peccary, Tayassu tajacu

The mystical javelina has finally been spotted. After 3 years and counting, today we actually saw our first javelinas as they raced through a parking lot in front of an art gallery.

Yup, Sedona is a very interesting place to live.

They’re also known as collared peccary and look like wild pigs. And the ones we saw weren’t exactly cute. They were *gigantic* and watching them as we drove by was kind of like seeing dinosaurs at a shopping mall. 😉
