A Bowl of Oatmeal by iirraa.

It’s definitely getting colder in the high desert, at least in the mornings and evenings.

I sense the return of “routines” — hot breakfasts, soup for lunch, crockpot dinners; schedules uninterrupted by jumping outside to see how warm it is; a return to filing papers (unthinkable during the summer); structured evening activities instead of simple lazing about. Warm baths and hot chocolate in front of the fire place. More focus. I’m starting to nest — moving clothes around in anticipation of needing sweaters.

I start out chafing at the routines, but then relax back into them as the sun moves farther away and I find myself cocooned in early evening.

It’s so nice to be able to embrace the changing seasons without holding onto the last one or impatiently waiting for the next one. They’ll arrive and leave fast enough and this year I want to Be Here. Just. Be. Here. And see what happens.

Need some nuts and raisins! And a splash of soy milk for me.

I’m a fruit, agavi, and flavored half-and-half girl myself. 🙂
