Actually Seaford, NY

Christmas Eve was wet but wonderful. We were with Roy’s family and had a great time with 30-something of the people we see far too little of. There was another gift fight and this year the prize for the most “interesting” gift went to Roy’s niece Doreen who brought a romantic evening package of red silk pajamas, a shortie nightgown and a bottle of booze. Her brother Peter selected this box from the pile. Upon unwrapping the present and being unable to give it away, he decided to model the pajamas for us which made for an especially unforgettable evening.

Yesterday we drove Lauren back to Chapel Hill and had some incredible Kahlua cake and eggnog with her fiance Eric, and his family. This afternoon we covered the final four hours to Brevard. I give special thanks to the weather gods for allowing us to make this trip in nice weather and safety, thanks to Roy for excellent driving and good humor, and a prayer than my cold manages to steer clear of bronchitis.

I acually think Peter modeling the gift was much more entertaining than the gift itself. It did get more laughs than the blanket sleeper of one christmas past. Thanks for taking theb cheese cutter off my hands. Hope all is well- glad you had a safe trip home.

I’ve never seen someone look as miserable as you did with that cheese cutter. Good thing it was exactly what I wanted. 😉
